 Turning item boy for the remake of 'Chashme Buddoor', Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar says he is having a ball shooting for David Dhawan's take on the 1981 classic comedy.
He has already proved his singing and acting prowess and the 31-year-old star will be showing off his dancing skills in the opening song of the film alongwith South actor Siddharth.
"It is the opening song of the film. It is coming about very nice. Me and Siddharth are in the song. We are having a ball of a time working on the film. David Dhawan is of course great at comedy," said Zafar.
The actor will be portraying the role played by Farooq Sheikh in the original directed by Sai Paranjpye, while Siddharth is playing Ravi Baswani's role. The remake also stars Anupam Kher.
"When I was offered this film, I watched the original one. The remake is more like a contemporary take on the story, we cannot say whether it will be better than the original," he said.
Zafar, who was last seen in 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' with Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan, is currently gearing up for the release of his new film 'London, Paris, New York' opposite Aditi Rao Hydari.
This is the first time Zafar, who began his acting career with 'Tere Bin Laden', will be seen playing a romantic lead in a Bollywood film.
"A nice sweet love story is something everybody goes through in their careers. Many people begin with a romantic film, I chose a relatively awkward route with an unconventional film like 'Tere Bin Laden'. I didn't plan to be a lead in such a film, I just happened to like the script." 'London, Paris, New York' is the story of two lovers who keep meeting and separating in each of these three cities over a span of eight years.
Zafar has also sung and composed for this film directed by debutante Anu Menon and encouraged leading lady Aditi to sing as well.
"Since I am a singer, it makes sense to sing my own songs. If I lip-sync to somebody else's voice then it may look odd. After I was on board this project I asked the director about the film's music and offered to compose a song myself. She liked my work and asked me to do all the songs," he said.
The film's trailer was given an 'A' certificate by the Censor Board but Zafar says the film is clean sans an intimate scene, which he was apprehensive in doing.
"I have never kissed on screen before and I wasn't very comfortable about it. I am reluctant doing such scenes in films, more due to personal reasons."
Long before he plunged into acting, Zafar had established himself as a singer and was popular on both sides of the borders. But he chose to start his acting career in India.
"I wasn't offered good films in Pakistan, films which could make me feel like acting. But I always wanted to be an actor and Bollywood films have songs as well, so I get to explore all my talents," he said. |
