Bipasha can never be my girlfriend: Rana Daggubati

You started your career in films with a small animation production house, and your partners belonged to NID in Ahmedabad. How was that experience? I have fond memories of Ahmedabad. My friends in NID were good with animation projects and we started a studio, focusing on post production work in films. But later, I realized that the market for animation projects is very price conscious and chose not to be a part of service industry. I needed to be creative and independent and thought of acting. I have also done a couple of short term courses at IIM-A. I like the Gujarati food here and I loved hanging out at both the (NID and IIM) campuses.
Your last film Department didn't work, and people seem to be more interested in your love life. Comment. I am only six films old and it will take time before people start talking about my work. Besides, people like speculating about every girl that I am seen with. They have to understand that I am new to Bollywood and my co-stars are the only friends that I have. Naturally, I will hang out with Bipasha or Abhishek Bachchan!
So, there is nothing happening with Bipasha? Never! We are just friends and Bipasha can never be my girlfriend! And relationships don't happen like that. It's not as if my family will choose a bride for me, or that I want to be with a South Indian girl. When you like someone, it just happens.
What about talks of your growing fondness for Shriya Saran? I have known Shriya for 13 years. I am extremely fond of her, but only as a friend.
Why did you choose to move over to Hindi films? Southern films are region-bound, where I can never do a variety of roles like in Hindi cinema. For instance, I can never be a Goanese musician in a Telugu film (as in Dum Maaro Dum). In Bollywood, one can work in different genres. It would be great if I can strike a balance among Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films.
Your father is a successful producer. What have you learnt from him? My grandfather Dr D Ramanaidu has produced 150 films and my father (Suresh Babu) effectively took off from where he had left. He has a keen eye for detail.But I am not keen on production as of now.
